Meet Ambassador Beale! Keeping Sims Clean and Safe

Beale patrols the downtown area near Sims Park

Have you seen this guy floating around downtown? Earlier this summer the City of Euclid entered into a contract with DCA to pilot a “Clean & Safe Ambassador” program in Downtown Euclid and Sims Park and along the new lakefront trail. Ambassador Beale continues to patrol the downtown neighborhood near and around Sims park- assisting visitors, students, residents, commuters and downtown businesses by answering questions, giving directions and offering information.

During the month of October, Beale provided 41 hospitality assists and 29 business contacts while providing a cheerful, visible point of contact for anyone visiting the downtown area. Ambassador Beale makes his presence obvious to help deter unwanted behavior around the park, and help the area stay clean and secure- but he’s not just hanging out down there! In the month of October Beale removed over 1,200 lbs of trash from the area- including weeds, leaves and storm debris.

He’s also been removing panhandlers, cleaning up graffiti, and calling for wellness checks on some of the areas more vulnerable residents.

“The Ambassador Program has helped to make downtown Euclid more welcoming and inviting” said Mayor Kirsten Holzheimer Gail.

“We have received a lot of positive feedback from residents and businesses. “ If you see Ambassador Beale around town, please stop and say hi! He’s part of what makes Euclid great.
