Reporting of Tagged Deer

January 27, 2023

If you see a deer with a tag in it's ear please report it to ODNR using the contact information here.

A message from Geoff Westerfield, Assistant Wildlife Management Supervisor- ODNR Division of Wildlife

There is a current deer research project going on in South Euclid looking at deer management using a combination of deer sterilization and lethal targeted deer removal (aka “sharpshooting”). This is the second year of the project and we learned last year that some of the deer do move around a good bit outside the municipal limits of South Euclid.

Deer that are part of this research project have received ear tags, one in each ear. There are a variety of tag colors used: white, blue, yellow, and orange. A photo of what the tags look like is above. I am taking in any reports of these tagged deer.

The preferred way for people to report the sightings is through https://forms.office.com/g/qyqVEuPJ8Z, however they can also email me at Geoffrey.westerfield@dnr.ohio.gov or call me at 330-245-3027.

Thank you for your cooperation on this important project!
