Job Title: Part Time Building Assistant – Shore Cultural Centre

Department: Mayor's Office

Status: A. Classified B. Nonexempt


Job Summary: Responsible for maintaining the Shore Cultural Centre and Surveyor’s Triangle in clean and orderly condition. Works under the immediate direction of the Centre’s Manager in coordination with the Program Administrator.


Job Duties:

  • Empty wastebaskets, and trash cans; replace liners.
  • Wash and clean glass doors, windows, and walls.
  • Clean and sanitize sinks, water fountains, and toilets.
  • Wet/dust mop tile floors; strip and wax floors as needed.
  • Vacuum office and hallway carpets; spot clean carpets as needed.
  • Replace bulbs and tubes in light fixtures: ceiling and tabletop.
  • Remove snow from sidewalks and salt as needed.
  • Set up tables and chairs for various functions.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


Work Environment: Medium to heavy work (exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally); indoor/outdoor (subject to hazards: moving mechanical parts, electric current, water, chemicals). Atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, gases; occasional exposure to below 32 degrees F temperatures, noise, and vibrations. Physical activity: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, feeling, and grasping.


Requirements:

  • High school graduate.
  • Ability to communicate, express and exchange ideas and instructions accurately and clearly.


Range 8: $17.39 - $24.05, Part Time Evenings and Weekends, 29 Hours/Week
