Job Title: Building Inspector

Union Position


The City of Euclid is currently seeking a building inspector to join its Building and Housing Department. The Building Inspector is responsible for the inspection and the enforcement of the Ohio Building Code and Codified Ordinances of the City of Euclid. 


Building Inspector Job Duties:

  • Inspection of permitted work for code compliance.
  • Observes building conditions and issues correction notices to responsible parties.
  • Obtains evidence, documentation and prepares non-compliance reports.
  • Maintains inspection records and follow-up as needed.
  • Communicates with and informs building owners and contractors, regarding inspection results.
  • Responds to complaints and requests from residents.
  • Testifies in court in regards to non-compliance of homeowners or contractors.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


Requirements:

  • High school graduate.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Valid state certification in two (2) or more of the following categories: Building Inspector, Electrical Safety Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, Mechanical Inspector, Residential Building Inspector, Residential Mechanical Inspector, or Residential Building Official.
  • Strong communication skills

 

Work Environment: Light work (exerting up to 20 lbs. Of force occasionally). Indoor/outdoor.

Subject to hazards: moving mechanical parts, electric current, water, chemicals; atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dusts, gases. Physical activity: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, feeling.


Base Pay Rate: $32.80

$2000.00 per Commercial Level license per year not exceed $6,000.00, licensing premium rolled into hourly wage.
