Euclid Urban Forest Comprehensive Plan Survey

March 4, 2025

The City of Euclid is actively seeking residents’ perspectives on their priorities and concerns regarding the urban forest.

Euclid’s urban forest plays a vital role in the city’s overall health and beauty. Our trees aren’t just aesthetically pleasing; they actively improve the lives of Euclid residents by contributing to a cooler, cleaner, and more vibrant community. They line our streets, provide shade in our backyards, and grace our parks and wooded lots.

Recognizing the importance of these natural assets, the City of Euclid is embarking on a proactive effort to ensure the long-term health and vitality of its urban forest, thanks in part to a 2024 grant from the USDA Division of Forestry. This funding is supporting the development of an Urban Forest Comprehensive Plan, a forward-looking document that will establish a vision and roadmap for the next 20 years of Euclid’s urban forestry program. This plan will guide the city’s efforts in planting, maintaining, and protecting its trees, ensuring that future generations can enjoy the same benefits we do today.

The plan’s development kicked off with its first public meeting on February 15, 2025 at Euclid High School. Over 20 residents joined the city’s new Urban Forester, Jody Lathwell, and representatives from the Davey Resource Group for an engaging discussion about the city’s urban tree canopy. Key topics included the maintenance of street trees and strategies for expanding Euclid’s overall tree canopy. Dates and times for two additional public meetings will be announced soon on the City’s website and social media.

The City of Euclid is actively seeking residents’ perspectives on their priorities and concerns regarding the urban forest. A crucial part of this outreach is a brief survey, available through the QR code or link below, designed to gather valuable feedback from the community. The anonymous survey, which takes approximately 10 minutes to complete, covers a range of topics related to trees in Euclid. The data collected from the survey will be instrumental in shaping the goals, priorities, and action steps outlined in the Urban Forest Comprehensive Plan, ensuring that the plan reflects the needs and desires of the Euclid community.

Your participation is vital to cultivating a thriving urban forest for Euclid’s future, and we look forward to working with you to achieve our shared goals. Share your thoughts by completing this survey prior to March 31, 2025: bit.ly/EUCTREES
