Help for Cuyahoga County Residents with Past Due Real Estate Taxes
Payment options for past due property taxes are available now.
August marked the end of another property tax cycle, and there are currently around 41,000 homeowners in Cuyahoga County that are behind on their property taxes, representing about one in thirteen households. We understand that financial challenges can quickly lead to falling behind. If you are facing this situation, it's important to be aware that a new round of interest charges will be applied in December.
The Cuyahoga County Treasurer’s Office is here to help. Their new Financial Empowerment Center works with residents, providing free, confidential, one-on-one financial counseling, creating real world solutions that fit each individual’s situation.
We encourage you to explore the various payment plan options available. Our goal is to ensure that all residents have the opportunity to remain in their homes by keeping up with their property taxes. The Cuyahoga County Treasurer’s Office offers a variety of delinquent tax payment plans, allowing property owners to make manageable payments over time.
You can also explore options for setting up a delinquent tax contract in person. Visit the Treasurer’s Office at 2079 E. 9th Street, open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Alternatively, you can reach them by phone at 216-443-7400 (option 1).
