Job Title: Arena Attendant - Seasonal Part-Time

 

Department: Parks and Recreation

 

Status: A. Classified. B. Nonexempt - FLSA

 

Job Summary: Responsible for the efficient administration of the arena and activities including rentals, skating, and tournaments and special events. Works under the immediate direction of the Program Manager.

 

Job Duties:

 

  • Fulfill duties as a skate guard include ensuring guest safety and rule adherence.
  • Fulfill duties as rental assistant, distributing skates and organizing the skate rental room.
  • Sharpen ice skates (both figure and hockey)
  • Answer telephone and give information to callers; place outgoing calls.
  • Operate cash register and assist customers.
  • Analyze operating practices: record-keeping, forms control, personnel needs, etc.
  • Coordinate special events and assist with the marketing of the department.
  • Perform other related duties as required

Work Environment: Medium work (exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally); indoor/outdoor. Subject to: Extreme cold, extreme heat, vibration, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases. Physical activity: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, substantial repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and fingers. High ambient noise level. 

 

Requirements: Must know how to ice skate. Ability to work firmly and courteously with the public: children, teens, adults. Ability to express and exchange ideas and instructions accurately and clearly. Mornings, Evening and weekend work required; schedule may vary each week.

 

Grade 9 Pay Rate: $10.70/hour

Various Shift Schedules: Tuesdays 5:00 pm – 8:15 pm, Fridays 7:00 pm - 9:15 pm, Saturdays 6:30 pm – 9:15 pm, Sundays 4:00 pm – 5:45 pm (Other times may be available during certain weekends)
