Job Title: Light Equipment Operator - Streets and Sewers

Department: Public Service

Status: Classified   Nonexempt - FLSA  


Job Summary: Responsible for repairing and maintaining municipal streets and storm and sewer lines; operating dump trucks, pick-up trucks, mowers, sewer machines, front-end loaders, and snow equipment. Works under the immediate direction of the Superintendent or General Foreman.


Job Duties:

  • Clean and maintain catch basins
  • Apply either cold patch or hot mix to streets as needed.
  • Break asphalt and other pavement, using an air hammer, pick, and shovel.
  • Rake and pick up leaves; check and clean creeks.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


Work Environment: Heavy work (exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally); indoor/outdoor. Subject to hazards: moving mechanical parts, electric current, water, chemicals; atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases; occasional exposure to below 32-degree temperatures, noise, and vibration. Physical activity: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.


Requirements:

High school graduate or equivalent. Commercial Driver's License with acceptable driving record. Ability to express and exchange ideas and instructions accurately and clearly.


Pay Rate: $28.44 /hour

Full Time: 40 Hours/week, Monday through Friday 7:30am to 3:30pm with Seasonal Shift Hours
