Euclid Heritage Trail

This initiative will transform approximately 4,500 feet of existing 5-foot sidewalk along the southern side of Euclid Avenue (between Dille Road and E. 228th Street) into a 10-foot-wide, paved multi-purpose trail. The new trail will connect two of our great local greenspaces: Cleveland Metroparks' Euclid Creek Reservation and Hero Park.

Euclid Avenue and Chardon Road Safety Study

The public process examines the Euclid Avenue and Chardon Road intersections and seeks to make them safer for vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists. The public feedback process began in March 2022 and will continue throughout the year. The recommendations are expected to be completed in Fall 2022 and are being facilitated in partnership with the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency. See the final adopted TLCI here.

Lakeshore Boulevard Water Main and Walkability Project

The Project will replace the water main on Lakeshore Boulevard between E 217th Street and E 228th Street. Following the water main replacement, Lakeshore Boulevard will be resurfaced between E 217th Street and E 228th Street and 5 landscaped pedestrian safety islands will be installed at various places.

Streetscape Projects (Euclid Ave., East 200th St., Lakeshore Blvd.) 

The City of Euclid is implementing streetscape improvements along key corridors, including Euclid Avenue, East 200th Street, and Lakeshore Boulevard. These projects focus on enhancing the appearance, walkability, and overall experience of the area through upgrades such as signage, trash receptacles, and other streetscape elements. Together, these improvements support local businesses, encourage investment, and create more attractive and pedestrian-friendly corridors throughout the city.

East 200th Streetscape Project:

The East 200th Streetscape Project includes completed sewer repairs and roadway resurfacing, along with planned streetscape enhancements aimed at improving the corridor’s appearance, functionality, and pedestrian experience. Upcoming improvements may include benches, banners, bicycle racks, street art, landscaped medians, pedestrian refuge areas, and planters.These enhancements are intended to create a more welcoming and visually cohesive corridor that supports local businesses, encourages investment, and improves the overall experience for residents and visitors.

Top of the Tank

The Top of the Tank project is a unique initiative to transform the space above a 15-million-gallon underground stormwater storage tank into an activated greenspace in Downtown Euclid. Guided by a 2021 community engagement process, the project envisions a functional, accessible, and visually engaging public space. The City continues to evaluate site conditions, design concepts, and potential amenities to enhance the surrounding landscape and support future public use. Ongoing efforts also include exploring phased improvements and funding opportunities while addressing and engineering considerations associated with the project.

Storefront Renovation Program

The City of Euclid’s Storefront Renovation Program (SRP) supports commercial property owners and business tenants with exterior façade and site improvement projects that strengthen the appearance and vitality of the community’s commercial corridors. Eligible projects may qualify for up to $25,000 in reimbursable grant funding for improvements such as signage, lighting, windows, doors, landscaping, exterior repairs, and other facade enhancements.

The program is designed to encourage private investment, improve curb appeal, address exterior code issues, and support long-term economic development throughout the city.

Euclid Creek Trail Extension

Cleveland Metroparks was recently awarded funding to further plan trail connections from Euclid Creek Reservation, through the former Central Middle School Site, to Lake Erie/Wildwood Reservation at the mouth of Euclid Creek.  Stay tuned for further updates from the Metroparks, and review the proposed trail map here! 

The Euclid Trail Extension project will expand the City’s trail network by extending the existing path from Chardon Road to St. Clair Avenue. This project improves connectivity, enhances pedestrian and bicycle access, and supports safer, more accessible routes throughout the community. The project is being coordinated in partnership with Cleveland Metroparks as part of broader regional trail efforts.

Community Recreation and Wellness Center

Now Open! The new facility provides expanded opportunities for recreation, fitness, wellness programming, and community gatherings for residents of all ages. Heritage Park Home Repair Grant Program

The Heritage Park Home Repair Grant Program is a $300,000 pilot program designed to assist owner-occupants of single- and two-family residents make repairs to the exterior of their home and property. Property owners must reside in the home (owner-occupant) and be current on their property taxes or on a payment plan with Cuyahoga County. Eligible property owners who are awarded a grant will receive up to $7,500 to assist with curbside appeal projects.

Playground Improvement Program

The Playground Improvement Program was developed in 2021 following an assessment of every City-owned playground. The City has committed to replacing all City-owned playgrounds in poor condition so that every Euclid child has access to a high-quality playground. More than $1,000,000 has been invested in new playground equipment for Memorial Park, Willow Park, Hero Park, Tungsten Park, and Heritage Park. Additional improvements include the resurfacing of Harmony Park in summer 2025, and future updates to Mavec, Russell Ave. and Evans parks in the near future!

Sims Park Reimagined: Master Plan Update 

The City of Euclid, Ohio, deeply values its lakefront, recognizing it as a vital community asset and a cornerstone of its identity as "The Lakefront City." This commitment is evident in the City's efforts to enhance Kenneth J. Sims Park, a key component of the City's vision for its waterfront. Previous park improvements, such as the 250-foot fishing pier, accessible walkways, restored Henn Mansion, and disc golf course, have transformed Sims Park into a popular destination for residents and visitors. With recent public investments, like the unprecedented and award-winning Lakefront Trail and Upland Sims Park Expansion projects, and through numerous comments by residents and park visitors, the remaining park layout and infrastructure does not serve the unique and varied needs and desires of the Euclid community.

East 215th Street Trail Improvements

The East 215th Street Trail Improvement Project includes widening the existing trail and enhancing safety, accessibility, and overall user experience. Planned improvements include upgraded lighting, signage, landscaping and other amenities designed to create a safer and more welcoming connection for pedestrians and cyclists. The project supports the City’s ongoing efforts to improve recreational activities and strengthen neighborhood connectivity.
