Job Title: Administrative Assistant III – Recreation & Wellness Center
Department: Recreation
Status: A. Classified. B. Nonexempt.
Be part of a dynamic, community-focused team in a brand new, state-of-the-art recreation facility. This position serves as the welcoming face and primary contact for our community wellness center. This role blends customer service excellence with operational support to ensure every member and visitor enjoys a safe, welcoming, and engaging experience. Job Summary: Serves as the primary point of contact for the community Recreation & Wellness Center. Provides customer service and operational support. Handles patron check-ins, program registrations, and facility tours. Resolves guest feedback and exhibits energy and professionalism. Works under the direction of the Recreation Center Manager.
Job Duties:
- Greet members, guests, and visitors enthusiastically, creating a warm and inclusive community environment.
- Receive incoming telephone calls; assist callers with inquiries, concerns and transfers to appropriate personnel.
- Scan membership cards and enforce check-in policies to maintain facility security.
- Provide schedules, class times, facility amenities, and center policies to members, guests, visitors, and callers.
- Assist with registrations for youth sports, fitness classes, and help run community events.
- Provide facility tours to prospective members, explain membership tiers, and process sign-ups.
- Accurately handle cash and credit card transactions for memberships, day passes, and merchandise.
- Monitor the facility to ensure common areas, locker rooms, and fitness zones are clean, organized, and stocked.
- Educate patrons on facility rules and etiquette to maintain a safe environment for all ages.
- De-escalate and resolve patron complaints or feedback efficiently and empathetically.
- Assist with basic first aid incidents and follow emergency evacuation or safety protocols when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- 1–2 years of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, or a community center environment. Coaching experience (volunteer or paid) preferred
- Exceptional verbal communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Proficiency with point-of-sale systems, registration software (RecTechnologies), and basic computer tools (e.g. Microsoft Suite)
- Ability to think on your feet, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and resolve conflict calmly
- CPR certification preferred
- Availability for evening and weekend shifts

Work Environment: This position requires medium-level physical activity; occasional standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping. Perform substantial repetitive motions of the wrist, fingers, and hands.
Job Grade 8: $17.39 - $24.05, 40 hours per week, variable shifts including evenings and weekends.
