Magnet recognition is the highest honor for professional nursing practice awarded by subsidiary of the American Nurses Association

Cleveland Clinic Euclid Hospital has received Magnet® recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), which is the highest honor an organization can receive for professional nursing practice.

“Receiving Magnet recognition is a true reflection of the excellent quality care that our nurses deliver every day to our patients,” said Teresa Dews, M.D., president of Cleveland Clinic Euclid Hospital. “Their resilience and dedication through stable as well as difficult times is a testament to the truest spirit of caregiving.”

The ANCC is the world’s largest nurse credentialing organization, and is a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association. The ANCC describes its Magnet recognition program as recognizing healthcare organizations for quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice.

To achieve Magnet recognition, organizations go through an extensive review and systematic evaluation of their nursing practices by the ANCC. The process includes the review of documentation and a site visit by ANCC professionals who evaluate the hospital against numerous quantitative and qualitative standards that represent excellence in nursing services, clinical outcomes and patient care delivery.

Euclid Hospital was recognized for outstanding work in seven areas in the following categories:

Nursing Quality Outperformance Inpatient Setting

Nursing Quality Outperformance Ambulatory Setting

Patient Satisfaction Ambulatory

“The Magnet recognition is such a well-deserved honor for caregivers at Euclid Hospital,” said Shannon Kunberger, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, Chief Nursing Officer of Cleveland Clinic Euclid Hospital. “I am so proud of the collaboration among our innovative teams, and their compassion and dedication to deliver unwavering quality care to our patients and families.”

With this achievement, Euclid Hospital joins a select group of more than 500 healthcare institutions worldwide. It is the ninth hospital in the Cleveland Clinic health system to earn Magnet designation. Others include:

Main campus (2003)

Fairview Hospital (2009)

Akron General (2013)

Hillcrest Hospital (2014)

South Pointe Hospital (2017)

Abu Dhabi (2019)

Marymount Hospital (2021)

“This is a tremendous accomplishment during extraordinary times,” said Meredith A. Foxx, MSN, MBA, APRN, Executive Chief Nursing Officer of the Stanley Shalom Zielony Institute for Nursing Excellence. “This is a testament to their persistence, compassion, energy and enthusiasm for their nursing practice and professionalism. I am so proud of the nursing caregivers and leadership team at Euclid Hospital for this accomplishment.”

Building Resilient Shorelines: Join Us for a Nature-Based Strategies Workshop Living along Lake Erie offers stunning views and vibrant community life, but lakefront property owners and coastal communities also face distinct challenges from shoreline erosion and storm damage to habitat loss. To address these challenges, the City of Euclid is excited to host an interactive community workshop: Building Resilient Strategies: A Workshop for Lake Erie Property Owners and Communities . Supported by a grant from the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation’s National Coastal Resilience Fund (NCRF) , this event is designed to help local residents explore sustainable, eco-friendly approaches to shoreline protection. What Are Nature-Based Strategies (NbS)? Nature-based strategies (NbS) use natural materials and ecological design to help stabilize coastlines. Unlike traditional hard infrastructure, NbS measures offer dynamic benefits, including: Erosion Control & Shoreline Stabilization: Protecting property against wave action and weather. Storm Damage Protection: Absorbing impact during severe weather events. Water Quality Improvement: Filtering runoff naturally before it reaches Lake Erie. Habitat Creation: Supporting local wildlife and aquatic ecosystems. Whether you are looking to protect your own shoreline or interested in coastal management for the broader community, this workshop will guide you through taking ideas from initial concept to full implementation. Interactive Design Session for Property Owners Are you a lakefront property owner? Bring photographs or drawings of YOUR shoreline! During the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive design process to discuss tailored solutions and potential approaches for their specific property.
