We have been notified by the Ohio Department of Health about multiple adult mosquitotraps located throughout the county testing positive for West Nile Virus.

Mosquito and Tick Bite Prevention

We have been notified by the Ohio Department of Health about multiple adult mosquito

traps located throughout the county testing positive for West Nile Virus. Historically, we

see more infected mosquitos in late July and August, so this activity is normal.

Now is the time to take precautions to prevent mosquitoes and tick bites:

  • Utilize insect repellent containing DEET, picaridin or lemon eucalyptus oil an follow label instructions.
  • Dispose of containers that collect water (buckets, tires, cans, flower pots, etc.) and eliminating areas of standing water
  • Empty and refill bird baths at least once a week
  • Clean, drain and cover pools or hot tubs if not in use
  • Unclog all gutters so they drain properly
  • Fill tree holes with tar or cement
  • Tightly screen all doors and windows in your home
  • Keep children indoors during times of peak mosquito activity - one hour before and after sunrise/sunset
  • Walk in the center of trails to avoid ticks in the tall grass and bushes on the side
  • Wear long pants and shirts - tuck pants into your socks or boots/wear light colored clothing so it is easier to see ticks
  • Check your clothing after your walk to remove any ticks
  • Check your body again when in the shower

West Nile Virus

Symptoms include high fever, headaches, muscle aches, vomiting and loss of appetite. If symptoms persist 2-10 days after a mosquito bite, seek medical attention and advise your doctor of your prior exposure to biting mosquitoes.

Symptoms of tickborne disease include fever, headache, joint pain, muscle aches, fatigue or a rash soon after a tick bite. If bitten, monitor yourself for several weeks for these symptoms.

Participate in the Euclid Ave. Neighborhood Signage Survey! We have an exciting opportunity for you to help shape the future of our community's visual landscape. The City of Euclid is planning to install new gateway and neighborhood signage at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Upper Valley Drive, and we want your input! Why Your Feedback Matters This is more than just signage; it's a chance to express our community's unique identity and charm. Your thoughts and ideas are invaluable as they will guide the design process, ensuring that the final result reflects the spirit and character of Euclid. By participating in this survey, you can help decide on elements such as the inspiration behind the design, the materials we should use, and how the construction should be approached. An in-person public meeting on this topic was held on Thursday, August 28th. We engaged with the community to understand their vision and aspirations for this new signage. Now, it's your turn to weigh in! The survey offers you the chance to answer the same questions that were presented at the in-person meeting and provide your feedback. Take the Survey We're inviting all Euclid residents to take a few minutes to complete a short survey. This is your chance to have a direct impact on the look and feel of our community. Your feedback will help us create signage that not only welcomes visitors but also instils a sense of pride in all of us who call Euclid home. How to Participate Participating is easy! Simply click the link below to be directed to the Euclid Ave. Neighborhood Signage Survey and share your thoughts. Your input will be instrumental in the early stages of planning and design, setting the stage for a project that truly resonates with our community. THE SURVEY CLOSES SEPTEMBER 30TH. Questions? If you have any questions about the project or the survey, please feel free to reach out to Planning and Development Director Patrick Grogan-Myers at (216) 289-8160 or pgrogan-myers@cityofeuclid.com. Thank you for being an active part of our community and for helping us beautify and enhance the entrance to our neighborhood. We look forward to receiving your valuable feedback and creating something wonderful together!
