The new Recreation and Wellness Center will built on Milton Ave. near C.E. Orr Ice Arena

On September 27th, community members, city officials, and local leaders gathered at 22550 Milton Ave. to celebrate the groundbreaking of the highly anticipated Euclid Recreation and Wellness Center.

The ceremony commenced at 10:00 AM with speeches from city officials and community leaders, highlighting the center's role in fostering a safer and healthier Euclid. Mayor Kirsten Holzheimer Gail addressed the crowd, stating, "This center is more than just a building; it is a testament to our commitment to nurturing a vibrant, active, healthy community."

The Euclid Recreation and Wellness Center will offer a variety of programs aimed at keeping young people engaged in constructive pursuits. These initiatives, which include sports, fitness classes, and leadership programs, are intended to reduce the likelihood of youth becoming involved in unsafe or unproductive activities. By promoting discipline, self-esteem, and leadership, the center will contribute significantly to the overall well-being of the community.

The state-of-the-art facility will boast three versatile athletic courts, providing an indoor arena for sports such as basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and more. A community fitness center will offer modern exercise equipment, complemented by an indoor walking track for residents to enjoy year-round. In addition, multi-purpose rooms will accommodate community classes and neighborhood meetings, fostering engagement and collaboration.

These multi-purpose spaces will be utilized for essential classes such as CPR, First Aid, and Heimlich training, equipping residents with lifesaving skills. Furthermore, they will host meetings for community block watch, crime prevention, and disaster preparation, directly enhancing public safety in the area.

The groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of a new chapter in Euclid's ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life for its citizens, and the city’s dedication to promoting a healthy, active lifestyle for residents of all ages. As construction begins, the community eagerly anticipates the positive impact this facility will have on the fabric of Euclid.
