Job Title: Administrative Assistant II- Narcotics and Vice (Part-Time)

Department: Police

Status: A. Classified B. Nonexempt


Job Summary: Handles routine correspondence, data entry, supply orders, and customer service, in addition, prepares legal documents, and handles confidential and sensitive material and conversations. Corresponds with courts, law enforcement, and the public. Works under the direction of the Narcotics Unit Supervisor.


Job Duties:

  • Screen and routes telephone calls and act as department receptionist.
  • Maintain records for all office equipment and supplies.
  • Prepare and process legal correspondence on all misdemeanor and felony narcotics and vice arrests.
  • Process incoming mail, and publications and resolve routine inquiries.
  • Maintains daily calendar of upcoming court dates for officers and detectives in charge.
  • Enter, retrieve, update, and clear information from the computer.
  • Maintains accurate accounting of all evidence/property from adjudicated cases for destruction.
  • Set up and maintain confidential office files and records.
  • Other duties as directed.


Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent with administrative skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office,
  • Ability to communicate ideas and instructions accurately and clearly.
  • Handle confidential and highly sensitive material of the Narcotics and Vice Unit. Knowledge of police work is a plus.
  • This position will require the following certifications within six months of hire: L.E.A.D.S. I and II, N.C.I.C., and C.C.H.


Work Environment: Office. Sedentary work: exerting negligible force; occasional walking and standing. Physical activity: climbing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, lifting, grasping. Perform substantial repetitive motions of the wrists, fingers, and hands


Grade 7 Pay Range: $20.87 - $26.85. Monday – Friday, Varied Shifts, 25 hours/week
