Euclid's Citywide Signage Project is transforming the local landscape with a wave of newly installed signs designed to guide, inform, and enhance the community experience. As part of a strategic initiative authorized by Ordinance 76-2024, the project aims to improve navigation and highlight key areas within the city. The contract for this extensive project, awarded through the Board of Control, amounts to a total of $384,914.00, funded by various sources without dipping into the General Fund.

The project’s financial backbone comprises a blend of funding streams, each allocated according to eligibility and location-specific requirements. A significant portion, $100,000, is sourced from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), while the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) contributes $75,000. Additionally, $122,653 comes from the Clay Matthews Pontiac Tax Increment Financing (CMP TIF), $30,000 from Harbortown TIF, and $56,636 from Downtown TIF. This careful financial structuring ensures that no burden is placed on the city's General Fund, allowing for a diverse and well-planned upgrade to Euclid's infrastructure.

A total of 86 new signs are being strategically placed throughout the city, enhancing visibility and accessibility for residents and visitors alike. These signs are being installed at parks, city gateways, and various points of interest, creating a cohesive and comprehensive wayfinding system.

Key Installations Include:
• City Gateways: Two monument signs and 17 post-mounted signs welcome visitors to Euclid, creating a memorable first impression.
• Vehicular and Pedestrian Directions: Twelve city-wide vehicular directional signs and seven downtown pedestrian directional signs ensure smooth navigation for everyone.
• Park Identification: Multiple signs in post, panel and monument formats identify public parks such as Yuko Park, Sims Park, and Hero Park, integrating additional destination information and park rules.
• Downtown Enhancements: Four downtown gateway signs and one retrofitted digital message board wrap enhance placemaking and wayfinding downtown.
• Comprehensive Trailblazers: Directional markers guiding drivers or pedestrians to specific destinations, making navigation in key parts of the City easier and friendlier.

The signage project also focuses on enhancing community spaces, with particular attention to parks and recreational areas. For instance, signs at Memorial Park will feature directions to the Memorial Pool, Orr Ice Arena, and the Recreation and Wellness Center, offering clear information to visitors.

Mayor Kirsten Holzheimer Gail expressed her enthusiasm for the Citywide Signage Project, stating:
“We are thrilled to unveil this comprehensive signage initiative, which not only enhances navigation throughout Euclid but also instills a profound sense of pride in our community. These signs are more than just directional tools; they symbolize our commitment to making Euclid a welcoming and accessible city for residents and visitors alike. By highlighting our parks, city gateways, and downtown area, we are celebrating the unique character of our community and reinforcing our identity as a vibrant and connected place to live, work, and explore.”

Overall, the Euclid Citywide Signage Project is a comprehensive effort to improve navigation, accessibility, and community engagement through thoughtfully designed and strategically placed signs- efforts that will continue in 2026 with the addition of Euclid Avenue gateway and neighborhood signage.

As this phase of the project completes, please take a moment to check out some of the new signs in your neighborhood. More information about this, and other City initiatives can be found at www.cityofeuclid.gov.

Building Resilient Shorelines: Join Us for a Nature-Based Strategies Workshop Living along Lake Erie offers stunning views and vibrant community life, but lakefront property owners and coastal communities also face distinct challenges from shoreline erosion and storm damage to habitat loss. To address these challenges, the City of Euclid is excited to host an interactive community workshop: Building Resilient Strategies: A Workshop for Lake Erie Property Owners and Communities . Supported by a grant from the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation’s National Coastal Resilience Fund (NCRF) , this event is designed to help local residents explore sustainable, eco-friendly approaches to shoreline protection. What Are Nature-Based Strategies (NbS)? Nature-based strategies (NbS) use natural materials and ecological design to help stabilize coastlines. Unlike traditional hard infrastructure, NbS measures offer dynamic benefits, including: Erosion Control & Shoreline Stabilization: Protecting property against wave action and weather. Storm Damage Protection: Absorbing impact during severe weather events. Water Quality Improvement: Filtering runoff naturally before it reaches Lake Erie. Habitat Creation: Supporting local wildlife and aquatic ecosystems. Whether you are looking to protect your own shoreline or interested in coastal management for the broader community, this workshop will guide you through taking ideas from initial concept to full implementation. Interactive Design Session for Property Owners Are you a lakefront property owner? Bring photographs or drawings of YOUR shoreline! During the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive design process to discuss tailored solutions and potential approaches for their specific property.
